Turtle Survey Day Five
/June 7, 2015
9am - George and I just arrived at the Manatee River. This is another river in which the Suwannee cooter is unknown. It is also about 25 miles south of the Alafia River, the southernmost river in its range. There is anecdotal information that they may be found here.
2:15pm - We just finished paddling the Braden River. Observed a lot of turtles. Most were lying in weed mats and were hard to Identify. Those we were able to see well were all peninsula cooters. Towards the end of the trip a storm rolled through and we took shelter under a bridge. We are now heading back to St. Petersburg to get gear stowed, ourselves cleaned up, and get packed for my trip back to Connecticut tomorrow.
